Windows Live Messenger update not working

I received a notification from App World of an update to Winows Live Messenger, and so installed the update (approx one week ago, 31 Aug 2010).

However, it now doesn’t work. App World says installation was completed successfully, but when I click on the icon my device freezes.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and always the same issue. I am VERY experienced in installing apps and upgrading software.

I’m currently running OS 5.0.0.862 on Vodafon UK, Bold 9700.

Any suggestions anyone?
